PHOENICIAN MALE TERRACOTTA FIGURE IN A POSE OF PRAYER - Ca. 5th - 4th century BC A terracotta sculpture depicting a man dressed in a classical tunic and with a hairstyle of classical form.The piece forms part of a group of Phoenician terracottas discovered underwater in the 1950s, possibly originating from Phoenician temples and representing Phoenicians and their principal activities in the form of votive figures. Size: 17 cm. Provenance: Private European collection of Ancient Art; Ex New York Antiquities Gallery pre-2000. All items are accompanied by a European export license.
