ETRUSCAN BANDED AGATE INTAGLIO DEPICTING A LION IN GOLD RING - Ca. 600 - 500 BC. An oval banded agate intaglio engraved with the figure of a striding lion facing right, with incised detailing along the mane, body and legs. The stone is mounted in a swivel setting, allowing it to rotate within the terminals. The possibly later high carat gold hoop is composed of a single rod of circular section with thickened ends, drawn up to secure the mount.For similar see: E. M.
