SCYTHIAN OR THRACIAN GOLD INLAID BRONZE DOUBLE HEAD HAMMER - Ca. 500 BC. A bronze double-headed hammer with an S-shaped form, each end terminating in an opposite beast-shaped head, one facing upward and the other downward, both with a dorsal crest along the neck. The central round socket is reinforced with a raised ridge with pointed protrusions. Gold inlays form a series of vertical lines along the shaft.Size: 175mm x 25mm; Weight: 225gProvenance: Private London collection, acquired on the European art market pre 2000.
