ROMAN SOLID GOLD RING WITH INTAGLIO DEPICTING GRYLLOS - Ca. AD 1 - 200. An oval red carnelian intaglio engraved with a gryllos composed of a bird-like figure with an elongated neck and head held high, long legs, and a human head emerging from the base of the neck, both facing the same direction. The body is hybrid, combining avian and horn-like features, with a tail resembling that of a peacock.
