ROMAN GOLD PENDANT MANUS FICA - Ca. AD 1 - 300. A gold pendant modelled in the form of a clenched hand with the thumb thrust between the index and middle finger, known as the manus fica gesture. The hand is rendered in relief with subtle modelling of the knuckles and fingers, and the loop above is formed of a triple-ribbed suspension ring.Size: 18mm x 8.8mm; Weight: 1.18gProvenance: Property of a London Ancient Art Gallery; formerly in the famous Alison Barker collection, a retired London barrister; acquired between the early 1960s to 1990s.
