CHINESE YAOZHOU TYPE CENSER - Qing Dynasty, Ca. AD 1644 - 1912. A celadon glazed censer. The globular body is supported on three short cabriole legs and rises to a slightly waisted neck with a rounded rim. The exterior is decorated with a carved continuous scroll of large, stylised floral blossoms on meandering stems, all under a translucent celadon glaze. Yaozhou ware is a highly celebrated ceramic type from the Northwestern province Shaanxi during Song dynasty. This is a beautiful revival example from the Qing dynasty.
