Bidspirit auction | KASHMIR STYLE GILDED BRONZE SEATED
KASHMIR STYLE GILDED BRONZE SEATED BUDDHA - Ca. AD 1700 - 1800. A gilded Buddha finely cast seated in dhyanasana on a double-lotus pedestal above a square plinth. His serene expression is framed by an ornate crown and pendulous earlobes, with the hair arranged in tight curls and a prominent ushnisha. Traces of original gilding remain, accentuating the delicate facial features and flowing robes incised with fine drapery. The overall style, including the square base with stepped legs, reflects the aesthetic and craftsmanship of Kashmir bronzes from circa 8th - 10th centuries, often associated with early Himalayan Buddhist art and its transmission into Tibet. Size: 240mm x 140mm; Weight: 2.03kg. Provenance: Private UK collection. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
