GROUP OF TIBETAN MALA BEADS - Ca. AD 1800 - 1900. A group of three traditional Tibetan prayer beads (malas). Each strand terminates in original or early thread, leather, and traditional marker elements, including metal vajra and bell finials, and small skull-shaped counters, often used for tantric rituals. These malas were used for mantra recitation and spiritual practice in Tibetan Buddhism, and show signs of long devotional use. Size: 250-400mm x 15-20mm; Weight: 430g.
