RARE JAPANESE OSAKA SCHOOL EBONY NETSUKE - Ca. AD 1800 - 1900. A netsuke finely carved from ebony as a seated karashishi (Buddhist lion-dog) on a square plinth base, its muscular form and flowing mane rendered with characteristic precision. The plinth is detailed with rope-twist borders and symbolic motifs, enhancing its architectural presence, with a seal on the underside. Signed: Kaigyoku (Masatsugu Kaigyokusai).Accompanied by original box, signed and sealed by artist. Size: 45mm x 25mm; Weight: 15g.
