ELAMITE SILVER BEAKER WITH FRIEZES OF HORSES - Ca. 1200 - 900 BC. A silver beaker with a flaring rim, the high wall decorated in high relief with two horizontal registers filled with a procession of horses in alternating directions: the upper frieze displays them moving leftward, while those in the lower register face right. The registers are framed above and below by bands of interlaced scroll motifs. The base of the beaker is formed as a deeply fluted, convex dome radiating outward in a sunburst pattern.For similar see: R. Matthews, H.F.
