BACTRIAN STONE INLAID BOX WITH ANIMALS SHAPED HANDLE - Ca. 2600 - 2200 BC. A rectangular chlorite box with thick walls and a fitted lid surmounted by a quadruped serving as a handle. The upper surface of the lid is decorated with a central field of incised triangular motifs, with a fan-shaped ornament in each corner, all framed by borders of triangles inlaid with cream-coloured calcite. The two longer sides of the box are adorned with pairs of confronting ibexes flanked by vertical inlays, while the shorter sides display calcite-filled triangles arranged in two opposing rows.
