MAYAN FEMALE FIGURE - ex. CHRISTIE'S - Jaina, Late Classic, Ca. AD 550 - 950. A terracotta female figure seated with legs crossed and arms extended downward, the hands resting symmetrically on the knees. The figure wears a fitted garment with short sleeves and a long beaded necklace that hangs centrally across the chest. Thick bracelets encircle each wrist, and large earrings are set on either side of the face. The cheeks are incised with horizontal lines, and the eyes are almond-shaped with a lowered gaze.
