RARE EARLY BYZANTINE INCENSE BURNER WITH SAINTS - Ca. AD 500 - 600. A cast bronze vessel with curved walls, suspended from three chains that terminate in a three-pointed hook. The vessel's surface is adorned with a dramatic relief scene of two empresses under an arch, probably a palace, alternating with patent crosses. Beautiful floral motifs are incised around the scene.
