BYZANTINE BRONZE RING WITH BANDED AGATE INTAGLIO WITH CHRIST - Ca. AD 900 - 1000. A bronze ring with an oval bezel set with a banded agate intaglio engraved with a bust of Christ. The figure is depicted frontally, with a cross-halo behind the head, the right hand raised in blessing and the left holding a Gospel book. The broad bezel is encircled by four plain prongs, and the hoop is perforated with recessed circular apertures.For similar see: H. C. Evans and W. D.
