VIKING SOLID HIGH KARAT GOLD MEDALLION WITH CENTRAL UMBO - Ca. AD 900 - 1000. A gold medallion with a central umbo comprising a single pellet at the apex, encircled by a plain band and a ring of granules with a braided band at the base. The surrounding field is decorated with a symmetrical arrangement of spirals, pellets, and short rods positioned around the central boss. The outer edge is enclosed by a plain raised border, and a suspension loop is attached at the top. The reverse is plain with a central concavity mirroring the umbo.
