PHOENICIAN BLACK STONE SCARAB - Late Period, Ca. 600 - 400 BC. A black stone scarab with an elongated oval shaped body. The upper surface is carved with a segmented body, featuring a distinct clypeus, elytra, and thorax, framed by a serrated border. The head is slightly raised, with defined eyes and a notched ridge running along the clypeal arch. The underside is engraved with a symmetrical composition of six figures in two registers, divided by a central band with a sun disc. For similar see: 28/85 Cagliari 9503 (Spano 69), from Tharros.
