EGYPTIAN PAINTED CARTONNAGE - Ca. 664 - 30 BC. A fragment of an Egyptian painted cartonnage mummy panel, decorated in polychrome on a white gessoed surface. The scene shows two figures in profile facing right. On the left is the lion-headed goddess Sekhmet, wearing a long orange garment and a tripartite wig. In front of her stands the frog-headed goddess Heqet, depicted with green skin, extended arms, and a fitted green dress, positioned before an offering table. Size: 145mm x 125mm; Weight: 100g Provenance: Private London collection, acquired on the German art market; Ex. collection of Dr. Karl von Seeger, acquired before 1970.
