EGYPTIAN BANDED AGATE HIPPOPOTAMUS PENDANT - Middle Kingdom, Ca. 2055 - 1790 BC. A stone figure of a hippopotamus carved from banded agate, rendered in a compact, rounded form with short legs and a lowered head. The eyes, ears, and nostrils are shallowly incised, while the feet are delineated by lightly grooved lines.
