EGYPTIAN PRE-DYNASTIC RELIEF DEPICTING RURAL SCENE - Ca. 4000 - 3100 BC. A large fragment of reddish-brown sandstone incised on one face with a series of linear carvings. The central register presents the outline of a quadruped with elongated legs, slender body, and prominent branching horns, likely representing a species of wild antelope or ibex. Surrounding the animal are intersecting lines forming rectangular and triangular enclosures. Size: 435mm x 225mm; Weight: 17.06kg Provenance: Private London collection, acquired on the Belgian art market, 1990s. This piece is accompanied by an authentication statement from Simone Musso, consultant curator for Egyptian antiquities at the Stibbert Museum, Florence, Italy, member of the Nuri Archaeological Expedition.
