RARE URARTIAN BRONZE CEREMONIAL HELMET - Ca. 800 - 700 BC. A bronze helmet formed of two joined horizontal bands creating a cylindrical body, with a pair of curved cheek pieces riveted to the lower rim. The upper edge is fitted with a tall, vertically projecting crest, separately attached with visible rivets along the crown. This type of helmet was likely intended for ceremonial use rather than for combat. Size: 390mm x 190mm; Weight: 1kg Provenance: Private UK collection, acquired on the US art market; Ex. Brooklyn Private Collection; Ex. Private Collection, New York, since 2005; Ex. Private Collection, Germany, acquired in the early 1990s.
