CHALCIDIAN BRONZE HELMET - Ca. 400 BC. A bronze helmet of Chalcidian type formed from a single sheet, composed of a rounded domed skull with a pair of broad raised ribs running longitudinally over the crown and intersected by two lateral ridges across the brow. The front edge is contoured into a shallow V-shaped notch, while the lower rim follows the natural curve of the face. Hinged cheek guards are attached with rivets at either side, curving inward.Size: 295mm x 215mm; Weight: 465gProvenance: Private London collection; Ex.
