CHINESE HAN DYNASTY TERRACOTTA RAM - TL TESTED - Ca. 202 BC - AD 220. A finely modelled pottery figure of a ram shown standing with legs extended and head turned slightly to the right. The compact body is rendered with a subtle curvature along the back, and the tail curls sharply upwards. The head is naturalistically sculpted with prominent eyes, a rounded snout, and drilled nostrils. Two ridged horns arc backwards over the ears. The anatomy is solid and substantial, particularly at the shoulders and upper limbs, with defined musculature along the flanks.Size: 445mm x 450mm; Weight: 5.62kgProvenance: UK private collection; formerly acquired in the early 1990s in Hong Kong.This piece has been precisely dated using a thermoluminescence analysis carried out by Ralf Kotalla.
