CHINESE TERRACOTTA SEATED MUSICIAN - TL TESTED - Tang Dynasty, Ca. AD 618 - 907. A terracotta figure of a seated female flautist. The lady is shown kneeling with her legs tucked beneath a wide, flaring skirt painted in orange-red pigment. Her arms are raised, holding a panpipes. Her facial features are rendered with delicate lines outlining the eyes and lips. The hair is arranged in a high, looped top knot at the crown of the head.Size: 235mm x 135mm; Weight: 1.14kgProvenance: UK private collection; formerly acquired in the early 1990s in Hong Kong.
