CHINESE TERRACOTTA HORSE - TL TESTED - Tang Dynasty, Ca. AD 618 - 907. A terracotta horse standing on a rectangular base, the head turned slightly to the left, mouth open as if neighing, nostrils flared, and eyes wide. The arched neck and body are richly painted in red, with traces of black detailing. The saddle is modelled with a high pommel and cantle, draped with a cloth bearing faint floral and scrolling patterns. The trappings are adorned with rounded appliqués simulating tassels.Size: 630mm x 610mm; Weight: 13.8gProvenance: UK private collection; formerly acquired in the early 1990s in Hong Kong.
