GANDHARAN STONE RELIEF OF SEATED BUDDHA - Ca. AD 300 - 400. A serene depiction of the Buddha seated upon a plinth, the right hand raised, while the left hand rests gently in his lap. The figure is dressed in a pleated sanghati robe, the folds cascading in rhythmic lines across the torso and legs. The face is modelled with calm expression, almond-shaped eyes beneath arched brows, a straight nose, and subtle smile. His hair is arranged in tight curls arranged into an ushnisha, framed by a large halo.
