GANDHARAN TERRACOTTA HEAD OF YOUTH - Ca. AD 200 - 400. A carved stone head depicting a youthful male. The face is oval with full cheeks, almond-shaped eyes beneath gently arched brows, and a straight nose with a narrow bridge. The lips are full, and the chin rounded. Wavy locks of hair frame the forehead and temples, bound by a wide fillet that wraps around the crown. The ears are pressed closely to the sides of the head. Mounted on a custom stand. Size: 180mm x 150mm; Weight: 4.69kg Provenance: From the collection of a London gentleman; formerly acquired in the early 2000s in Belgium; previously in 1970s European collection.
