GANDHARAN STONE HEAD OF BUDDHA - Ca. AD 300 - 400. A carved stone piece depicting the head of Buddha. The head shows serene facial features with almond-shaped eyes beneath arched brows, a straight nose, and gently closed lips forming a meditative expression. The hair is arranged in large locks, gathered beneath a turban-like headdress. Elongated earlobes with elaborate ear ornaments fall to either side of the face.Size: 150mm x 120mm; Weight: 2.57kgProvenance: From a professional UK collection of Asian and Himalayan art; previously with a London gallery, ex.
