GANDHARAN STONE PANEL DEPICTING PROCESSION SCENE - Ca. AD 200 - 300. A stone panel depicting a lively procession. At left, an elephant emerges from beneath an architectural canopy, surmounted by two enthroned figures. To the right is a sequence of male figures. At the far right, further attendants hold staffs. The scene is framed above by a plain border and below by a narrow moulding. The subject is likely drawn from Buddhist narrative cycles, possibly representing a ceremonial procession linked to the life of the Buddha or to a Jataka tale.
