GANDHARAN CARVED STONE TORSO OF BUDDHA - Kushan Period, Ca. AD 200 - 300. A finely carved schist torso depicting the Buddha standing in gentle contrapposto, dressed in a sanghati robe that falls in naturalistic folds across the body. The face is modelled with a serene expression, framed by softly arched brows, almond-shaped eyes, and a faint smile. His hair is arranged in tight curls arranged into ushnisha, and a subtle urna is visible at the forehead. The arms would likely have been raised in a teaching or blessing gesture.
