JAVA BRONZE FIGURE OF TARA - Ca. 12th century AD or earlier. A finely cast bronze figure of the goddess Tara, seated in lalit?sana upon a double-lotus throne supported by lions. She is adorned with elaborate necklaces, armlets, and anklets, the body defined by soft modelling and a graceful sway of the torso. Her right hand is lowered, while her left rests lightly at her side.
