JAVANESE BRONZE SHIVA - Ca. 12th century AD or earlier. A bronze figure of Shiva, cast and seated upon a circular lotus base. The deity wears an elaborate jata-mukuta crown and heavy jewellery, including a necklace, earrings, and armlets, with the sacred thread falling across the torso. His left hand is extended, while the right is raised before the chest. The face has a calm and dignified expression, with incised eyes and an urna.Size: 190mm x 120mm; Weight: 1.27kgProvenance: From a professional UK collection of Asian and Himalayan art; previously with a London gallery, ex.
