NEPALESE BRONZE VOTIVE FIGURE - Ca. 17th - 18th century AD. A cast gilt-bronze votive figure, depicting a caparisoned elephant supporting a fierce mythical lion-like beast (possibly a Snow Lion) upon its back. The elephant is richly adorned with a decorative harness and trappings, while the lion raises its head in a powerful stance, jaws open as if roaring.
