NAYARIT SEATED FEMALE FIGURE WEARING A NECKLACE - Ca. 100 BC - AD 250. A red-orange pottery figure of a seated woman with extended legs and hands resting against the abdomen. The head is sculpted with a long, triangular nose, slightly parted lips, and incised, almond-shaped eyes, framed by prominent disc-shaped ear ornaments and a striated coiffure drawn back across the scalp. A double-strand necklace encircles the neck and drapes across the chest. Traces of black resist decoration are visible beneath dark mineral deposits.
