MICRONESIA NECKLACE - Ca. 19th - 20th century AD. A finely crafted necklace from Yap Island, Caroline Islands, Micronesia. It is composed of numerous disc-shaped bone beads strung together to form a continuous strand. At its base, the necklace is adorned with a prominent tusk pendant, likely from a pig, symbolising wealth and status within Yapese society.
