GROUP OF BASKET AND HAT - Ca. 19th - 20th century AD. A fine pair of woven objects comprising a tall conical agaseke basket of the Tutsi people, woven in natural fibre with bold black zig-zag motifs and a double-pointed base, used for the storage of grain or as a prestige container exchanged during marriage ceremonies; together with a finely coiled woven hat, its rim decorated with looped fibre elements.For similar see: Pitt Rivers Museum, 1st floor.Size: 100-175mm x 150-165mm; Weight: 75gProvenance: Prince collection, 1990s-2014; (left) Ex.
