CHOKWE WOODEN ROYAL CHAIR - Ca. late 19th century AD. A finely carved wooden chair in the form of a stylised animal, likely a dog, symbolising power and prestige within Tchokwe royal courts. The zoomorphic head is detailed with incised geometric scarification patterns, framed eyes, and flaring nostrils. The body of the chair bears additional carved decoration, including a band of cross-hatched motifs along the sides, enhancing its visual rhythm.
