MEROVINGIAN SILVER-GILT BISHOP'S NECKLACE WITH CROSS PENDANT - Ca. AD 400 - 600. A silver-gilt necklace comprising a woven chain terminating in cylindrical collars and joined to two large discoid elements, each with a central garnet cabochon and punched decorative border. Suspended below is a cross-shaped pendant with concave sides and broad, rounded terminals, similarly decorated with a central garnet and raised circular motifs surrounded by punched ornamentation.
