OUTSTANDING LATE ROMAN / BYZANTINE GOLD LEAF MEDALLION DEPICTING BUST OF A SAINT IN HIGH KARAT GOLD - Ca. AD 300 - 500. A circular medallion formed of translucent glass with gold leaf, depicting a bust of a saint flanked by two rosettes. The medallion is set in a 21 kt gold pendant mount with a beaded edge and a tubular suspension loop at the top. Reviewed by Sami Fortune, an ancient jewellery specialist.
