RARE BYZANTINE GLASS BOTTLE IN BRONZE OPENWORK SUSPENSION MOUNT - Ca. AD 500 - 700. A cylindrical glass bottle set within an openwork bronze mount, suspended by three chains joined at the top by a hook and converging through a pierced rosette terminal. The clear glass body is enclosed in a cage of bronze cross-shaped mounts, each arm decorated with concentric circles and terminating in rounded lobes. The crosses extend from a ring at the shoulder to another at the base, which rests on three ball feet.
