MEROVINGIAN HIGH KARAT GOLD PLAQUE WITH CLOISONNÉ - Ca. AD 400 - 600. A gold plaque formed in two parts, the upper section enclosing a red stone set in a box-shaped cell with serrated border. The lower teardrop-shaped section is set with a garnet insert bordered by a row of applied gold granules, framed by a raised edge.
