PAIR OF MEROVINGIAN SILVER-GILT BROOCHES WITH INSET GARNETS - Ca. AD 500 - 600. A pair of silver-gilt brooches with garnet inlays. The one on the left is cast in the form of a stylised horse, with a compact body joined to a flat base, and the head detailed with incised lines to indicate the mane and jaw. A circular cell at the eye is set with a red garnet.
