PAIR OF SAXON ERA BRONZE SQUARE-HEADED BROOCHES - Ca. AD 520 - 600. A pair of bronze square-headed brooches, each composed of an angular bow section surmounted by a rectangular headplate with recessed field, bordered by a raised frame and topped with prominent finials and central cross-form element. The middle panel is decorated with a central diamond-shaped motif, flanked by lateral projections and enclosed within a band of triangular notches. The footplate terminates in a flat base with a slightly rounded lower edge. Hinges and catch plates are preserved on the reverse of both brooches.
