VIKING SCANDINAVIAN HIGH KARAT GOLD MEDALLION - Ca. AD 800 - 1000. A gold medallion decorated with a central raised boss surrounded by three rectangular cells filled with dense granulation. Scrolls of twisted wire extend across the surface, terminating in applied pellets, all framed by a plain raised rim bordered with a twisted wire fillet. The ribbed suspension loop is ornamented with heart-shaped motifs and applied granules.For similar see: A. Reynolds and L.
