BYZANTINE HIGH KARAT GOLD RING WITH CHALICE BEZEL AND RED GARNET CABOCHON - Ca. AD 400 - 500. A red garnet cabochon set in a cup-shaped bezel with a faceted outer wall. The bezel is framed by eight evenly spaced gold spheres, applied around the edge in a radiating pattern.
