BYZANTINE HIGH KARAT GOLD RING WITH RED GARNET CABOCHON - Ca. AD 600. A gold ring with a wide hoop decorated in relief with a repeating lozenge pattern flanked by parallel ridges. The circular bezel is inset with a domed garnet cabochon of deep red hue, framed by a border of small granules and encircled by a notched collar forming a radiating edge.
