LATE ROMAN/EARLY BYZANTINE PAIR OF HIGH KARAT GOLD RINGS WITH STONES - Ca. AD 400 - 600. A pair of gold rings. The one on the left is set with a lozenge-shaped green stone framed within a high bezel bordered with applied granules and supported by a broad hoop with braided decoration. The ring on the right is composed of a flat-sectioned hoop widening at the bezel to accommodate three oblong cabochon stones: two red and one dark blue, each housed in a recessed oval integrated into the gold surface.For similar see: J.
