BYZANTINE HIGH KARAT GOLD BELT APPLIQUÉ WITH GEOMETRIC MOTIF - Ca. AD 900 - 1000. A trapezoidal appliqué made from sheet gold and decorated on the front with a symmetrical design formed of a central vertical line flanked by opposing volutes, framed above by two parallel horizontal ribs. A pair of narrow loops is soldered to the back, both formed from rolled sheet.For similar see: F.
