RARE NORMAN SILVER RING WITH DOUBLE BEZEL DEPICTING CROSS AND PORTRAIT OF A RULER - Ca. AD 1000 - 1100. A silver ring with a flat-sectioned round hoop that enlarges on the shoulders to form a double bezel with two protruding cones with flat faces. The upper part is adorned with a cross, while the lower one displays a left-facing portrait of a ruler. One of very few known examples of the double bezel from the period. Provenance: Property of a London Ancient art collector, formerly in a London private collection, formerly acquired on the UK art market since the 1970s.
