RARE SILVER BYZANTINE ENKOLPION WITH SAINTS - Ca. AD 1000 - 1100. A silver enkolpion formed as a cross, hinged at the top and bottom. One side is engraved with a standing figure of St John in orant pose, the reverse shows St Nicholas similarly depicted. Both figures wear long robes with linear detailing and are framed by crosshatch decoration at the terminals and inscribed above with their Greek names.
