MIGRATION PERIOD IRON SWORD WITH SILVER HILT AND SCABBARD - Ca. AD 500 - 700. An iron sword with a slender, tapering blade ending in a rounded tip. The hilt consists of a short grip framed by a curved gilt-bronze crossguard with rounded terminals, flanked above and below by silver collars with flat and pointed profiles. The pommel is crescent-shaped and forged in iron. Accompanied by a silver scabbard with a flared, V-shaped mouth.For similar see: A. M.
